Overview of Phase 1
HPHA and Highridge Costa as its development partner are redeveloping Kuhio Park Low-rises.
The scope of this redevelopment includes the demolition of outdated structures and the construction of new modern units designed to meet current life safety codes and accessibility standards. These new units will be built in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring that the housing is both safe and accessible for all residents, including those with disabilities. This effort is part of a broader initiative to create a sustainable and inclusive living environment that meets the needs of the community.
The redevelopment process will be carried out in multiple phases to minimize disruption to residents. The first phase of redevelopment will be starting construction activities in Q4 of 2025.
The first phase includes the construction of 302 new affordable units for families with incomes at 60% of the Area Median Gross Income and below and will be financed by the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program.
Phase 1 consists of one 8-story residential building, three 6-story residential buildings and two wash houses. The residential buildings will have elevators and contain a mix of studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom and four-bedroom units
